Welfare & Wellbeing
The welfare and wellbeing of the children at St Ignatius is important to us and we are here to help with any problems that your child may be experiencing. It may be that your child is worried about something in particular or you may be concerned that their behaviour has changed in some way. It can often be difficult to decide what has caused this. This may particularly be the case at present following the long lockdown period due to Covid-19 and being away from school for an extended time.
Mrs Dixon, the Learning Mentor, can offer advice on different approaches for your child in school. This may initially involve some work in school, either individually or as part of a group. She also has some resources that can be passed on for use at home, for example a ‘Sleep Pack’ and an ‘Anxiety Pack’.
It may also be recommended that we involve other agencies to help you and your child, for example CAMHS (Children’s and Adolescents’ Mental Health Service), the team at Wakefield Council SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), the Early Help team at the Children’s First Hub, the School Nursing team or sometimes independent counselling services.
If your child is experiencing difficulties at home or school, please do get in touch with us. You can do this by calling the main school number, 01924 271625, or you can contact your class teacher or Mrs Dixon through the Class Dojo system.
