Hometime Congestion
As arranged, our meeting with Ossett Academy took place on Friday 13th May. We were able to discuss a range of ideas and potential ways to alleviate the issues that we are currently experiencing at home time along Storrs Hill Road. Here is a list of outcomes that both schools are going to explore before we meet again next half term:
- Ossett Academy to explore a possible review of the end of day exiting arrangements from the academy
- Ossett Academy to liaise with Cllr Darren Byford regarding the flow of pedestrian traffic at the crossing situated at the junction of Storrs Hill Road and The Green
- Cllr Darren Byford to request that the council carry out any roadworks in the immediate vicinity outside of term time
- St. Ignatius to provide hometime supervision along Storrs Hill Road to manage parking issues, staffing levels permitting and supported by governors
- St. Ignatius to ensure that pathways are not congested by requesting the ice-cream van to adhere to highway regulations and avoiding parking within 2.5 metres of a corner
- St. Ignatius to remind our parents of appropriate use of the morning drop and go in order to avoid blocking entry and exit routes to the parish drive
- St. Ignatius to request that our parents do not use Ossett Academy land to park on whilst waiting for children at hometime
Updates for the above actions will be recorded for your information as they occur.

Hometime Congestion
I met with Councillor Darren Byford this week to discuss ways in which we can ease the congestion along Storrs Hill Road at hometime. We came up with a few ideas that we are going to explore which include:
- Looking to work with Ossett Academy to explore how they can support us.
- Working with the ‘Safer Streets’ team which are part of the council and work closely with the police.
- Lodging a request to the council for the road markings along Storrs Hill Road to be re-painted.

30 Hours Nursery Offer
Following a long wait, we are now in a position to move forward with our plans for our 30 hour nursery offer. The local authority have asked us to write to all local providers to inform them of our intentions. Following this, we will then begin a recruitment process, and hope to open our doors to this offer in September 2022.
Breakfast and Tea time Club
Thank you for taking the time to complete the online survey. We will now begin a recruitment drive for our breakfast and tea time club, and as soon as we have staff secured, we will launch this offer for parents of children in all year groups.
