Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

At St Ignatius Catholic Primary School, we believe every child is a unique and precious gift from God. We are committed to nurturing the dignity, potential, and wellbeing of each pupil, including those with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND). In line with our Catholic mission, we aim to support every child to grow spiritually, academically, and personally.

Our SENDCo

Our school’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENDCo) is Mr R. Senior, executive SENDCo for our Trust. He works at St Ignatius one day per week. We also have a part-time Learning Mentor supporting social and emotional needs.

Support at St Ignatius

We are a small, inclusive, mainstream school. While we work hard to support a range of additional needs, we must do so within the context of available staff, funding, and resources. Any support or reasonable adjustments are carefully considered based on individual need and what is appropriate and feasible in our setting.

We aim to identify needs early, work in partnership with parents and professionals, and promote independence in all pupils. Support is provided as needed through a graduated response, and may involve advice from external agencies where appropriate.

Please note: specialist equipment or 1:1 support is only provided when there is a clear, assessed need – not automatically on request.
