A high-quality art and design education should engage, inspire and challenge children, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design.

Through our art lessons, children also learn how to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of art and design.  They learn how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation.

This term, alongside our classroom topics, we will be taking part in the National Gallery ‘Take one picture’ project.  We will be studying the painting ‘Mr and Mrs Andrews’ by Thomas Gainsborough.

Wassily Kandinsky

This week in Nursery we have been looking at the work of Wassily Kandinsky. We explored different ways of making our own version of Kandinsky’s ‘Squares with Concentric Circles’. Our week culminated with a large collaborative piece of work which will be displayed in our outdoor area.  

Class 5 – Astronomy Art!

This week Class 5 have worked hard to design and create artwork inspired by abstract expressionist Peter Thorpe. Wow!

Class 5 – Drawing Skills

This term, Class 5 have been improving their drawing skills. We have worked hard at developing our tone, depth and ability to draw portraits and objects accurately.
