Class 1
Welcome to Class One!
In Class 1, we endeavour to provide a safe, challenging, rich and varied learning environment where children feel valued, included and respected.
Class 1 is taught by Miss Smith and is made up of 21 Reception children and 10 Year 1 children. The Reception children work progressively through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum and the Year 1 children follow the National Curriculum. Our work across each curriculum is built around topic areas which change every term. We also follow our school RE scheme, ‘The Way, The Truth, and the Life’ where children learn about and explore the Christian faith.
We are also very lucky to have Mrs Crowther as our Teaching Assistant. Together, we work collaboratively with Nursery and Class 2 to plan and deliver a wide range of experiences through a structured learning environment and our continuous provision. Mornings focus upon phonics, literacy/english and mathematics. Free-play activities such as arts, crafts, role play and computing take place most afternoons. The children also enjoy timetabled music sessions with Mrs Shelton once a week and PE twice a week.
We aim to provide each child with an active, fun filled learning experience which will lay the foundations for their future.
