Collective Worship
‘The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.’ Psalm 145:18
Guidelines for Worship and Prayer
At St Ignatius all children are welcomed to participate in daily worship. We gather together at Masses, liturgies, and through whole-school and in-class worship.
Our collective worship is based on the 4-part structure:
· Gather
· Listen
· Respond
· Going Forth
We pray regularly throughout the school day and have opportunity to reflect and be still in our Prayer Corners.
On a Monday, we come together to share the Sunday Gospel. By sharing the Sunday Gospel we aim to help pupils grow in their faith by deepening their understanding of Scripture and Catholic teachings. Through reflection on the Gospel, pupils learn to apply its message in their lives and develop a personal relationship with Jesus.
On a Tuesday, we share the Mark 10 Mission to enable every child to encounter the presence of God through personal prayer and reflection. In KS1 children respond to the Gospel through the Little Liturgies resource and in KS2 pupils actively contemplate the Gospel and continue their prayerful response to Jesus through the Mission Files.
On a Wednesday, we come together to reflect on our Virtues to Live By. In this Celebration of the Word, we focus on our weekly virtue to enable the children to form their character through the teachings of the Gospel. The Virtues to Live by are recognised in our weekly celebration assembly.
On a Thursday, children participate in child-led worship. This is an opportunity for children to plan and deliver worship in their classrooms.
