Dear Parents/ Carers

I hope that everyone has made an appointment for Parents’ consultations. Speak to someone in the school office if you have any problems booking an on-line appointment. Please ensure that you collect a parent questionnaire when you attend your appointment.

Learning Mentor

We have appointed Mrs. Dixon into the part-time role of Learning Mentor. This new role in school is to further support some of our children and their families. She will support with Safeguarding and school attendance as well as supporting groups of pupils and individuals, both pastorally and educationally. This is to be a rich and varied role and will respond to the needs of our community over time.

She will be available to parents before and after school on Mondays to enable parents to share concerns or for her to offer support where needed.

We had many applications for the post and thank all those within the community who may have applied.

Lent 2018

The ancient disciplines of prayer, fasting and almsgiving are gifts of Lent. Many of you will remember these from your own school-days. They prepare our hearts for repentance and conversion, with God’s help and grace.

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday – 14th February 2018. The children will be able to receive the ashes during the day. Lunch will be meat-free starting off Lent with both prayer and fasting.

Mr. Bartram’s class assembly is open to all KS2 parents on Thursday 15th February.

Fundraising (almsgiving) will take place across Lent for all pupils and classes. We will keep you updated regarding the events. Our main Lenten charity is The Good Shepherd Appeal who do great work in our school and across the diocese of Leeds.

All children who have received first Sacraments will be offered the opportunity for Reconciliation during Lent.

We are planning on leading morning prayer and toast on Wednesdays throughout Lent, staring after half-term on Wednesday 28th February at 8:30am in the school hall. This is open to all parents, families and their children. It will be a time of prayer and reflection followed by the opportunity for tea, toast and a chat with other parents. Donations for the tea and toast will go to the Good Shepherd Appeal.

Class 5 will lead Stations of the Cross in church on Thursday 29th March.

Class 4

We look forward to welcoming Mrs. Humbles back, following her maternity leave, on Monday 26th March. She will be working Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesday morning. Mrs. Ridgeon will be teaching in Class 4 on Wednesday afternoons and Thursdays and Fridays once Mrs. Humbles returns.

Best wishes

Mrs. Rush
