School Newsletter 1 – 2018/19

Dear Parents/ Carers

I sincerely hope that everyone had a wonderful summer break and welcome you all back to the new school year. We extend a warm welcome to any families that are new to our school family.

We always hope that all our children will be happy to be back in school. If you have any concerns or worries, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher.

Key Stage 2 were very excited to now have a locker each to store their coats/ bags and shoes in during the school day. Best of all – nothing on the floor at the end of the day and the cloakroom perfectly tidy throughout the day. Many, many thanks to the Friends who kindly paid for these. The funding cuts to education year on year are making it more and more difficult, enabling us to only spend on the bare essentials. The fundraising and financial support that the Friends give to school are becoming more and more necessary to help support our improvement projects. I am sure that they would welcome new members to the team, and thank you for your continuing support and generosity of their fundraising activities, as it benefits the school as a whole.

Curriculum Evenings

We will be running the Curriculum Evenings next week and hope that you are able to come along. These will give information about the Year group curriculum expectations in English and Maths, homework, general timetable and other things pertinent to each class.

Class teachers will send out their information through class Dojo. If you have not yet signed up to Class DoJo – please contact your child’s class teacher about how to do this. If you were signed up last year, you do not need to re-register.

Family Social

I start with an invitation to all our families to attend the Family Social held in the Parish Centre next to school on Saturday 15th September from 5 – 8pm. There will be a children’s entertainer from 6-7pm, plus music, food and the bar will also be open. This is an opportunity to catch-up, meet new people and just have a lovely evening socialising.

I hope that many of you will come along to what promises to be a great evening. If you know in advance that you will be attending, let us know so that I can pass some numbers onto the people organising the food.

Alpha Course

The new Alpha course starts on either Thursday 20th September @ 7pm or Friday 21st September @ 9am. Both sessions will be held in the Parish Centre. Whilst eveyone is welcome, a special invitation is extended to the Y3, 4 and 6 parents as their children will be taking part in the Sacraments of First Confession, First Holy Communion or Confirmation later on this year. Do come along to find out more.

We ask God to bless our new term, our children and their families and all the staff who work here.

Best wishes

Mrs. Rush
