School Newsletter 07

Dear Parents,

I do hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas holiday. I would like to join my thanks with the thanks of all staff for your generosity this Christmas, to ourselves in the form of cards and gifts also through your support of both World Gifts and the Christmas Hampers.

I received a phone call and card from Eileen Bolas of the St. Ignatius S.V.P., thanking our school community for the wonderful hampers. She said the recipients were absolutely delighted and in some cases really surprised, but always grateful for the gifts contained within.

I do hope that this can become a traditional ways of preparing ourselves during Advent at St Ignatius School.

Thanks go to Mrs. O’Brien who came in one day to make up all the hampers. Photos of the finished goods are on the school website.

All the donations for World Gifts are now counted and banked. The children are in the process of choosing their gifts to send. Class 5 raised the most money this year, closely followed by Nursery.

Thank you to all the families who took part in any of our fundraising activities this Advent.

Important Notice – Key Stage 1 entrance redesign

As of Monday 18th January all Class 1 and 2 children will not be able to enter or exit school using their usual entrance due to the start of the works to alter the KS1 entrance. (Approximately 4 weeks) The contractors are very experienced at working in schools and at our pre-works meeting covered all the aspects of Health and Safety required during the works.

The children will line-up as normal in the morning and the Class 1 and 2 staff will bring them in either through the main entrance or KS2 entrance.

After school, Class 2 will come out through the main entrance and Class 1 can be collected from Nursery entrance. (If you have children in both Class 1 and 2 they will come out together with Class 2 at the main entrance.)

If you need to come to the office window at dropping off or picking up times, it would really help congestion in the main entrance if you could wait until the children have been brought into school in the morning, or after they have left in the afternoon.

Nursery should not be affected by these works as all the working area should be fenced off to prohibit access.

Hopefully, works will progress smoothly and we hope to keep disruption to a minimum level. Please be patient with any necessary changes as work progresses.

Website update

Both the school website and Trust websites are updating their photos this term. We received a visit from the Trust photographer last week and Mr Bradley organised for the photographer to come this week to take photos for the school website.

Family Themed Week

During the last week of this half-term, all the Trust schools are having a Family themed week. This follows on from the work done on the Inset Day in October. There should be opportunities for parents to take part in some work over the week. Mr Bartram/ Class teachers will send out information soon regarding dates and events.
