School Newsletter 06

Dear Parents,

We are coming towards the end of the Autumn Term, with Christmas fast approaching. We have a number of events planned leading up to our break for the Christmas holiday; please see the updated list of date.

Deco Day has been a great success. I would like to extend the thanks of all staff to those parents/ grandparents who came to give a much needed helping hand on Tuesday. We will still be finding glitter around school for days to come, I’m sure!

Parent View

As part of our monitoring, could I request that all parents to go onto the Ofsted website, Parent View and complete the Parent View questionnaire. (Link on the website Homepage) It is always helpful to see how you think that we are doing as a school.

Advent Nation

Fr. Richard has organised this Advent celebration on Wednesday 7th December at 6:30pm – An hour of friendship and celebration led by the Friars of the Renewal from Bradford, followed by refreshments. Open to KS 2 pupils. Further details and parental consent forms are available from Fr. Richard.

Hampers for SVP

Each class has started to collect items for their class hamper for the SVP to deliver to those in need in our community. These will be made up by the SVP and Mini Vinnies at the end of term. Please send your donations in by Thursday 15th December.

Christmas Fair

The Friends are kindly organising the Christmas Fair on Friday 9th December. This will take place in the Parish centre from 2pm. Donations of chocolates, teddies, toys and cakes would all be greatly received. (Send in to school the week of the fair – cakes on the day.)

Parents, who are able, can take their children from school from 2pm to the fair. All children will have the opportunity to go across as classes if parents are unable to attend. Please send them with some money to spend as this is a fundraising event.

Concert Tickets

Letters have gone out regarding Christmas Concert tickets. Please ask at the office, by phone or email if you require tickets. We are able to allocate 2 per family due to the confines of the school Hall and to conform with Fire Safety regulations.

Governors

We had 1 nominee for Parent Governor and welcome Mrs. Adele Taylor to our Academy Council. We have also had a change in the Foundation Governors. The new Academy Council is made up as follows:

Phil Kitson Chair Foundation Governor
Sarah Spurr Vice Chair Foundation Governor
Fr. Richard Aladics Parish Priest/ Foundation Governor
Michelle Cowper Chair of A&C Foundation Governor
Mary Willans Chair of P,F &S Foundation Governor
Aaron Ross Foundation Governor
Adele Taylor Parent Governor
Gillian Shelton Staff governor
Jackie Rush Headteacher
Simon Bartram Associate governor (No voting rights)

The Academy Council is split into 2 sub-committees:

Admissions and Curriculum

Premises, Finance and Staffing

As Headteacher I report to both the sub-committees. Mr. Bartram as DHT and Assessment/ Data Lead in school attends and reports to Admissions and Curriculum sub-committee.

All Academy Council members are expected to attend full Governors meetings and then the sub-committee meetings that they sit on.

We generally hold 4 Full Governors meetings each year, and 5 sub-committee meetings.  All governors are volunteers. They give a fantastic support to the school, regularly attending training to make them ever more effective.

We offer our thanks to those who no longer serve on the Academy Council, Nicola Bowie, Justine Daniels and Helen Pidcock. All three of them gave great service to school and were great advocates for the school.
