Welcome to Class Five!
Class 5 is the made up of the oldest children in school. All Year 6 children embark on a very important year.
On entry into Class 5 the children are encouraged to express themselves positively and be the best they can be. The class is led by Mr Bartram, who is ably assisted by Mrs Dixon, his teaching assistant.
One of the main aims at the start of the year is to build strong relationships amongst the children and the adults. A happy working environment enables the children to achieve their potential.
Throughout the year the children cover many topics spanning the curriculum, as well as daily Literacy and Maths lessons. For the Year 6 children, emphasis will be placed on SATs preparation after Christmas, helping them to grow in confidence for the challenges in May.
Through the wider curriculum children have the opportunity to take part in various sporting activities. Music and drama are two other important areas of the curriculum. Under the guidance of Mrs Shelton, our music teacher, the children lead both Christmas productions and end of school year performances. The children take on more responsibilities such as Wednesday Word Collective worship and assembly organising. We aim to nurture the whole child so that when it is time to leave St Ignatius they can be proud of what they have achieved.
